    Host institution

The Research Institute for Sport and Exercise Sciences at Liverpool John Moores University is proud to host the 16th Congress of the ECSS.

The Research Institute for Sport and Exercise Sciences at LJMU is internationally renowned for the quality of its research and teaching.  It was the first institution in the UK to award degrees in Sports Science and Science and Football and has developed these programmes further to offer students an innovative and challenging learning experience.

The Institute is home to 37 academic staff who operate across a range of sports science disciplines to examine the sport and exercise response from a molecular to societal impact.  The institute is housed within the Tom Reilly Building which is a new state of the art £32m facility that is home to 80 PhD students from around the world and is dedicated to the memory of our former colleague, Professor Reilly.
