On behalf of the Norwegian School of Sport Sciences, I am proud to welcome you to the 14th Annual Congress of the European College of Sport Sciences (ECSS) in Oslo, Norway 24 – 27 June 2009. ECSS is the key European organization for research in sport and physical activity, and hosts an annual conference that has become the most important in the field in this part of the world.

Oslo, the capital of Norway, is situated at the head of the Oslo fjord and surrounded by forested ridges. Oslo is unique, a city surrounding a sea inlet with mountains as a backdrop. At the end of June, summer in Norway is at its most beautiful.

Congress theme

The theme of the Congress is Sport Sciences – Nature, Nurture and Culture. Sport is a complex phenomenon that includes most dimensions of human life. The complete study of human activity in most sports must build a diversity of scientific approaches. The 14th Annual Congress programme will feature theoretical, applied and cross-disciplinary sport studies as well as research findings based on the natural, behavioral, social and human scientific disciplines.

Participants

We expect close to 2000 participants from between 60 and 70 countries, most European countries and from the US, Australia and Japan (see statistics). These are leading researchers who hold important positions nationally and internationally when it comes to sport science and to education of coaches, teachers, researchers, sport leaders and administrators, and sport and health-experts. In addition, among the participants there are people from the practice field; sport medics and physical therapists, coaches, sport managers and policy makers.

Congress Venue

The ECSS’09 will take place at Oslo Congress Centre which is a modern congress centre located in the heart of Oslo and within walking distance to the congress hotels, transport systems, shopping and restaurants. The Centre is a professional, flexible and comprehensive meeting venue that is founded on a colorful, almost century-old history.

Prices and practical information:

• The stand fee is € 250,- per square meter.
  
• In addition, every exhibitor will be charged € 50,- per square meter for booth walls, electricity and spotlights.
• Most units will be 3 x 3 m (9 square meters) and multiples thereof.
• Two free delegate registration is included in the stand fee.
• Booths will be sold on a first come – first served basis.

Advertisements in the Final Programme:

• 1/1 page: € 3000, -
• ½ page: € 2000, -

Inserts in the Congress bag, such as advertisements,

• luggage tags and other items: Euro 2000, -

Sponsoring AV equipment:

• Euro 2000, - per day
• Sponsors will be projected in all session rooms

Coffee Breaks:

• € 3000, - per day
• Sponsors will have their profile displayed with asign, as well as the right to place small give-aways at the coffee table. Coffee will be served in the exhibition area.

All prices are subject to 25 % Norwegian VAT

Stand assembly & Dismantling of the stands

Stand assembly:

• Tuesday 23rd of June at 2 PM till 23 PM
• Wednesday 24th of June at 7AM -10 AM

The booths must be finished by 10 AM on Wednesday the 24th of june.

Dismantling of the stands:

• Saturday 27th of june 7 PM  - 11 PM
• Sunday 28th of June 8 AM – 6 PM
  

Exhibition opening hours:

• The exhibitors are welcome to attend their booth all day.
